Recipes to Try Over Lunar New Year

Crispy Honey Soy Chicken Wings
Serves 4
Prep Time: 5 mins
Cook Time: 30 mins

Make this with the Tefal Cook4Me+ Pressure Multicooker. Recipe by Tefal.

Ingredients:

  • 4 tbsps dark soy sauce
  • 2 tbsps Kecap Manis
  • 2 tbsps honey
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 kg chicken wings (12 to 14 pieces)
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Method:

Note: that this recipe requires the use of the Tefal Extra Crisp attachment. This accessory (sold separately) can be placed on top of the Tefal Cook4Me appliance to enable a range of oven-like cooking functions including roast, grill, air fry and bake.

  1. Prepare the ingredients.
  2. Mix all the ingredients together. If possible, marinate chicken wings overnight.
  3. Install the Extra Crisp lid and start the Manual program: 30 minutes at 200°C. Stir halfway through the cooking to ensure even cooking.

Home-Made Peanut Satay Sauce
Prep Time: 5 mins

The perfect accompaniment to any meat or vegetable skewers – this sauce will delight meat-eaters and vegetarians alike. Mix it up with the Sunbeam Mixmaster Mixer. Recipe by Sunbeam.

Ingredients:

  • ½ lime, juiced
  • 1 tsp clear honey
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp curry powder
  • 3 tbsp smooth peanut butter
  • 165ml can of coconut milk

Method:

  1. In the Sunbeam Mixmaster® HeatSoft™ Planetary Mixer, attach the scraper beater and fit the Heatsplash™ guard onto the bowl.
  2. Add all the ingredients in the bowl, turn on HeatSoft™ and select MELT. Mixing on low speed then gradually increasing to speed 6 until the ingredients melt together and the mixture becomes smooth. Turn off HeatSoft™.
  3. Serve with chicken or vegetable skewers for a starter or party nibble. Kids love it too!

Drinks Recipes

Lychee Soda
Serves 4

This recipes requires the use of 350ml carbonated water. Use Breville’s The InFizz Fusion to carbonate your water. Recipe by Nyonya Cooking with minor alterations.

Ingredients:

  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 100 ml water
  • 20 lychee(s), fresh or canned
  • 4 mint leaves
  • 350 ml water (carbonated)
  • Ice cubes

Method:

  1. Melt sugar in water over low heat. When sugar has melted, leave syrup aside to cool to room temperature.
  2. Add about 5 lychees per glass and fill the 1/4 of the glass with the water from the can of lychee. The syrup enhances the taste of the drink.
  3. Pour cold soda water into the glasses. Sweeten the drink with a few spoonfuls of syrup made earlier. If a sweetened carbonated drink is used, skip the sugar as it is already sweet. Add some ice cubes. Optionally, add mint leaves to top the drink.

Sparkling Vietnamese Limeade
Serves 4
Total time: 15 mins

This recipes requires the use of 350ml carbonated water. Use Breville’s The InFizz Fusion to carbonate your water. Recipe by Katie’s Cucina.

Equipment:

  • 1 Cocktail Muddler
  • 1 Drink Pitcher

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • ½ cup very hot water
  • 1 handful of fresh mint
  • 8 limes
  • Sea salt or kosher salt
  • 1 cup Sparkling water divided
  • Ice, to serve

Method:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the sugar and the hot water until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Place a few mint leaves at the bottom of a pitcher and crush with a muddler or large wooden spoon.
  3. Juice the limes into the pitcher, add the sugar water.
  4. Take a lime wedge and cut a slit in the wedge. Then rub around the rim of the serving glasses. Dip it into salt. Add ice to the glasses and then pour in the limeade and top with a quarter cup of sparkling water. Repeat until all glasses are filled. Enjoy.

Recipe notes: to make an alcoholic version, add a little bit of tequila, rum or gin to taste.
