FAQs

For smoothies, a full-sized blender like the Sunbeam Two-Way Blender (PB8080K) with its powerful motor and large capacity is ideal for consistently smooth results, especially with tough ingredients. Personal blenders like the Russell Hobbs Mix & Go (RHBL300) are great for single servings and portability, but may struggle with ice or larger chunks. Immersion blenders like the Braun MultiQuick 9 (MQ9187XLI) offer versatility beyond smoothies, but can be less convenient for large batches.

The "pulse" setting on your blender delivers short bursts of power for precise blending control. Use it to chop ingredients without over-processing, break down tough items like ice before a full blend, and achieve your desired texture from chunky to smooth. Pulsing also helps prevent over-blending and ensures even ingredient distribution. It's your key to customised consistency.

Yes, you can make smoothies in a food processor, though the texture might be slightly different than a blender. Food processors are great for chopping and grinding, but they may not create the same smooth, vortex-like blend as a high-powered blender. You might need to add more liquid to achieve your desired consistency. To see a detailed comparison of blenders vs food processors, click here

Cleaning your blender after a smoothie is easy! For blenders with dishwasher-safe parts (check your manual), simply disassemble and place them in the top rack. For hand-washing, rinse out any remaining smoothie, then wash the jar and lid with warm, soapy water using a sponge or bottle brush. Rinse thoroughly and air dry or towel dry. For tougher residue, try blending warm water and a drop of dish soap for a minute. Always unplug your blender before cleaning.

Blenders mentioned in this blog can be found both instore and online at various electrical retailers such as Betta, Bing Lee, Myer, The Good Guys, Retravision and JB Hi-Fi.
